Direct answer

Sandustry seed drops from the Kinetic Press beside Gold. It does nothing dry, so add Water to make a Wet Seed before a Planter Box will grow it.

Seeds come out of the Kinetic Press alongside Gold when Burnt Residue is pressed. A dry Seed does nothing by itself; it has to meet Water to become a Wet Seed before a Planter Box will grow it. Seeds are denser than Wet Seeds, which is convenient - a mixed batch separates on its own, with the dry Seeds sinking and the wet ones floating at water level.

How to get Seed

There is a single route to Seed — press burnt residue — so it is the step to size first when a line running on Seed starves.

What Seed is used for

Everything you do with Seed leads to Wet Seed. There is no alternative use documented in the current build.

Ratios are documented for Seed, so you can size the line arithmetically instead of by trial and error.

FAQ

How do you get seeds in Sandustry?

Press Burnt Residue in a Kinetic Press. Each Burnt Residue pixel yields one Seed and one Gold, so seeds arrive as a by-product of the gold line.

What are seeds used for in Sandustry?

Only for making Wet Seeds. Add Water and each Seed becomes one Wet Seed, which is the form a Planter Box grows into a Flower.

Why will my Planter Box not accept seeds in Sandustry?

Planter Boxes only take Wet Seeds. A dry Seed has to touch Water first; one Seed plus one Water gives one Wet Seed.

How do you separate seeds from wet seeds in Sandustry?

Let physics do it. Seeds are denser than Wet Seeds, so in a mixed batch the dry Seeds sink while the wet ones stay at water level.
